Application:
Platinum stopper head for controlling outflow of molten metal through the nozzle of bottom pour ladles.
Flow Control Mechanism:
Platinum stopper head works from inside of the ladle to open and close the passage through the pouring nozzle which extends vertically through the bottom of the ladle and to control the flow of the molten metal.

HANDLING & INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR STOPPER HEADS
“PLATINUM” brand Stopper Heads are Clay-Graphite based where clay acts as bond. A permanent ceramic bond is developed during firing in manufacturing process and the same bond continues to become stronger and stronger in contact with molten metal. Other proprietary ingredients provide the much critical properties i.e. Spalling & Erosion resistance alongwith adequate strength to sustain under high temperature & high stress during molten metal pouring operations.
INSTALLATION
| 1. |
Do not scratch or damage the surface of the stopper head. |
| 2. |
Do not over-tighten the stopper pin or screw rod when fixing the same. This can result in the cracking of the stopper head or damaging the threads. |
| 3. |
Use minimal amount of filling paste during assembly of Stopper head with the sleeves. |
| 4. |
The filling compound used must be dried before the stopper head alongwith screw pin is taken for use. |
| 5. |
End of the screw should not come in contact with the Stopper Head, otherwise it may result in cracking due to expansion during usage. |
PRE-HEATING
| 1. |
Pre heating should be slow and gradual to ensure proper and complete removal of moisture. |
| 2. |
When pre-heating the Stopper head assembly along with the ladle, please ensure that the surface of the Clay-graphite stopper head is not oxidized at all. In the event of oxidation, this will soften the surface of the stopper head and make it prone to erosion and leakages while in use. To prevent oxidation of the stopper head during pre-heating, the following precautions should be taken: |
| a) |
Flame should not touch the stopper head. |
| b) |
Select the pre-heating temperature suitably i.e. upto 250° C, since oxidation can start beyond this. |
